A Friday Off

This week we had conferences, which means 2 late nights at school. We are required to stay until 7:00 so that we can have today off. It was a LONG week ( for being a short week!) and I am grateful to have today off. Unfortunately, I haven't been sleeping the best, and found myself wide awake at 5:00. So- I got up and have been laying on the couch and watching the news for the past hour+. I always go to bed and think " I hope I can sleep in until at least 7!" But that rarely happens. Oh well.

I have also been having the strangest dreams lately. Last night it wasn't a good one, however the night before I found myself in France, in a limo-- driving backwards. Strange. Maybe that means I will be going on vacation soon?? Or maybe that's just wishful thinking!
At any rate, today I am taking a trip to Duluth with Trisha. I am looking forward to some fun times shopping! We are also meeting up with Taryn and Kerrisa again.... maybe I will have pictures to post. Should be fun.....

Oh - yesterday I went to visit my grandparents. Gramps was sleeping, and though he knew I was there, he would just pipe up every couple of minutes to see what I was doing, and then he would go back to sleep. Gram was having a really good day and we were able to have a nice visit! After I left there, I met up with Christie at Subway. She is so much fun to visit with- and we never stop talking. I look forward to seeing her ( and my gparents) again soon!

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Yesterrday I asked my little K's how they think you cook a turkey. Some of them actually got pretty close! Although, one of them answered that you stuff a turkey with a baseball and a rope- and then you pull the rope real tight. Another answered that you stuff them with powder. Too cute.... And~ did you know that you need to cook your turkey at 7 degrees? You know it will be done when your oven gives 2 beeps. Just another fun day with 5 year olds.
As far as family Thanksgiving plans, Erin is going to make the big turkey for our family! I am excited to hang out with everyone that will be around..... It sounds like Lo/Mike, Erin/Bill, Matt/Deana and the boys, Spin/Stacy and the kids, and maybe Uncle Rick will all be around.

Dad still hasn't got a deer (although Trisha finally did!) so he is out for the last weekend of hunting. Jesse is also coming up to hunt with a bunch of his high school friends. I am HOPING he will take me to see Fred Claus one night, but I am starting to think that hunting will take priority this weekend. Oh well-- maybe I can talk my sisters into going next weekend.?

Well- I suppose that's enough for today. I hope everyone is having a happy Friday! Enjoy the weekend!

The weekend.

Well- here is my weekend. I am not sure why I am compelled to blog again, since usually I only write every other week or so-- but, here goes! Saturday I got up early and went into town to visit gram and gramps. They were both a little sleepy, but I made sure to get them up for a nice visit. Gramps and I shared some chocolate ( a favorite of his) and I tried to hook their phone up for them-- but no such luck. I guess my dad will have to figure that out. After my visit, I met up with Kerrisa again. We went and got a coffee and then drove around and chatted for quite some time. It is always so fun to see her. We were able to catch up on the past weeks before she headed back to Duluth for school. I TRIED to get her little sister, Kaylee (another 'secret sister' of ours!) to come and join us, but she had been out hunting and wanted to nap before work.... We have known these girls since they were very little, and they've just become part of our family! It has been so fun getting to watch them grow up ( as we grow up as well).
I was also able to see my cousin Rochelle yesterday. She was up from the cities with her 3 children. She has two beautiful daughters, and recently (about 3 weeks ago!) added a baby boy to the family. Aiden is just precious and I am certainly glad I had the chance to meet him and catch up with Rochelle again.
I came home for a quick chance to make spaghetti (doesn't that sound delicious) before I headed down to the Landing to meet up with Taryn and Matt. We had a nice visit and it is always fun to see them. Our evening was spent reminiscing (or however that is spelled) and telling family stories, which is always a hoot! We had lots of giggles. Taryn and I are planning to meet up in Duluth in a couple of weeks, and I hope to see her little one this time too!
As for SUNDAY..... Well, I didn't sleep in like I wanted to. Bummer! But- I did get a lot accomplished today. I cleaned the kitchen and more importantly, my bedroom. It looked like my closet had exploded. So- I took some time to do some sorting, laundry, pulled out my winter sweaters and also grabbed some clothes to bring to the thrift shop. Then- I proceeded to take a little nap. Now that I am finally awake, I've baked some delicious blueberry muffins. My next plan is to write out some letters (snail mail) since I haven't done that in forever. I need to catch up!
Anyways- I hope everyone enjoyed the extra hour of sleep last night!

Nothin' much.

I just got off the phone with Erin and she said I need to update my blog. So- here goes. This isn't going to be exciting.

I had a super busy week at school. As any teacher would tell you-- parties are fun, but exhausting! I had a Halloween party on Tuesday for my K's and then one again on Wednesday with my first graders. At our Wednesday party, the "Super Apple Man" came and taught the kids about the importance of making good healthy choices. He also had everyone up dancing and moving. (This huge lecture/activity before we went back to the room to eat cupcakes!)--I think the kids all had a good time, but I am SOOO glad it's the weekend because I feel like I need to rest! I've been running wild lately, and I don't even know what I've been doing!

I did spend last weekend in MPLS. Jesse and I spent a little time outside (the weather was gorgeous!), attended a benefit, and also worked on the wedding stuff..... I've been busy making lots of phone calls and things are seeming to come together well. I'm also very glad to have 2 sisters who have planned weddings-- and who LOVE to help out?..... so, thanks ladies!

I was also able to meet up with my cousin Deana and her 2 boys, Peyton and Jacob. It was really fun getting to catch up with them-- and the boys are always so entertaining! Deana is one of those people who is just very interesting. I love getting together with her to chat. We always have great conversations and I look forward to seeing them again soon ( say, Thanksgiving!!)

On a side note; My favorite part about my day today was that my students were all working hard at figuring out ways to make different numbers (i.e- 5+5 and 7+3 all = 10) So- my one little one who tends to have a more difficult time learning comes up to me and says " I finished this and I tried my hardest!" Just the fact that he said he tried so hard meant the world to me. He did very well and my heart just melts for this little one. He was so sincere-- and did work very hard. I need to remember his little face as he was so happy to succeed, even if it did take a longer time. I was LOVING my job today.

Ok- got a little side-tracked there. Anyways- as for the weekend, I have NO BIG PLANS! I may head to Stacy's to hang out with her... or maybe I'll take a ride to the shack to see how the hunters are doing. In the morning (or whenever i finally get up!) I will go and visit g&g for a bit. I NEED to do some cleaning and organizing this weekend-- and it wouldn't hurt me to put in a little time thinking of turkey ideas for school!
Ok- I warned you this wasn't going to be exciting.
Happy November!
