Iowa Part 2

Well- we're stuck in Iowa! Last night it rained, now it's snowing and winds are expected to pick up to 35 mph this afternoon. I guess I can't think of a better place to be stuck: 3 girls, making cards, watching movies and napping, eating pizza and chit-chatting. Sounds like a fun day! We are going to attempt to go out and chop away at the ice in Amy's driveway this afternoon-- wish us luck!

As for last night, we sat up on the couches and just talked for a long time. It's always good to get together and do that! We have so many memories and have definitely had some great talks. So far we've discussed houses, jobs and income, retirement, babies, haircuts, weddings, crafts, food choices.... and the list could go on an on. :)

Trish and I are planning on driving back home tomorrow. We are praying for safe roads and no wind. If it is too dangerous, we'll just have to camp out again!

Iowa Part 1

Trisha and I made it to Iowa around 4:00.... despite having a few brake issues. :( We left MN thinking the car was good to go-- new tail light, an oil change, tires checked... however, the brakes started making grinding noises and I (being the novice mechanic that I am!) instantly said, "It's the brake pads." So- after making a few calls, we kept on cruising here, and then brought my car in to get fixed last night. It didn't take them long at all, and I was very grateful to have my car back in an hour. Hopefully it will be set for some time now.

SO- then the real fun began. We started out by heading to the "fastest Mexican restaurant in the world" for dinner. Jack kept us entertained as we dined on some delicious fajitas, quesadillas, chips and salsa. After that, we made our way to the leftover Valentine candy, and then headed back to Amy and Steve's. Steve is gone this weekend- so we are getting in lots of girl time (and of course baby time too!). Once Jack was sleeping, Amy and Trisha helped me start making my invitations-- and though we made progress, we will probably work on them again tonight. Thanks, girls!

As for today, we are leaving Jack with a sitter, and heading to get the girls' dresses and maybe make a quick trip to the mall?? We'll see.... Whatever we do, I know it will surely be an adventure-- it always is!

Oh- and Trisha and I are supposed to head back to MPLS tomorrow, and then all the way home on Monday, but we hear there is a BIG BLIZZARD headed here tonight/tomorrow, so we might end up catching an extra day with the Stepec Family! They are saying rain, then 5-10 inches of snow, followed by 30 mph winds. Sounds pretty nasty.....

Happy weekend, everyone!

65 YEARS!

My grandparents celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this week. If you haven't checked out Erin's blog, please do-- as she has one of the sweetest pictures of my grandparents on there. Anyways- 65 year! I can't believe it. And- the real kicker is, they have REALLY been together since my grandma was 13, so that makes for 71 years spent with each other! They have had such a wonderful, loving life~ and are still so completely head over heels for each other.......
We had a small party for them on Thursday, and they seemed to enjoy themselves. My grandma's best friend, Margaret, was able to come. They have been "bff" since they were in school together, and have MANY memories. It was so fun for them to be together!
Wow. 65 years.....
