It's a BOY!

Last night around 9:00, Tara (my cousin) and Todd welcomed an 8lb 13oz, 21 1/2 inch baby boy. They named him Jaxin Christopher. Trisha said he is just perfect-- and he looks small (until they put him next to the 5 pound baby in the nursery!). He was a week overdue and didn't want to come out, so after a long day for Tara, she ended up having a C-section. I hear they are both doing great this morning... and we can't wait to meet him. CONGRATS!!

Where's Laura?

I think my sister Laura fell off the planet. Has anyone seen her?? She's a gorgeous 5 foot 2 (and a half) inch tall girl with big brown eyes and a heart of gold-- maybe the most compassionate person you've ever met?? She answers to the names of Lola and Laura-dora-dolly. I can't post a picture cause my computer is under the weather. I hope she calls or comes for a visit soon-- I am used to talking to her (almost) daily-- and I miss her.
It's been a fun (but busy) couple of weeks. We ended up in MPLS 2 weekends ago to see Jesse's grandparents and head to a twins game with some friends. The game was great (we won 14-2) and after the game we went out to an Irish pub for a couple of drinks and were able to visit with 2 of Jesse's good friends from high school. It is always fun for me to watch the guys reminisce (and hear stories that maybe i didn't want to hear!)...all in all, a great time. Sunday we met up with my college roomie Nikki for lunch at Red Lobster-- always a blast to see her, as we have sooo many memories from our 4 years together in school-- and love to "go back" to those days. I've tried to convince her to move to northern mn, but so far, that isn't happening. :) During the week, Amy and Jack have been up, so we've spent lots of time together (having deep discussions and solving the world's problems). We've gone shopping, visited reli's together, ate too much food and too much ice cream. But it has certainly been enjoyable! As for last weekend, we headed to a 30th bday party, I hit a baby shower, and we spent Sunday on the lake with dad, bill and erin. Tomorrow is a girls night with Erin/TRish/Amy. Summer is in full swing!

It's official

This year it looks like I'll be moving to teach grades 1&2. I am very excited, because I am able to keep my sweet class from last year, and I already know where they are at so I won't have to mess with a lot of the beginning of the year assessments.... yay!! oh- and i'm also finally tenured!

Highlights...

Here is a summary of the latest happenings...
1. I got to go with my new favorite sister-in-law to look at wedding dresses... we had a blast! She is getting married in August in the BWCA-- more fun times. 2. We went to Orr for the 3rd of July fireworks. They were GREAT-- Quite possibly the best fireworks i've ever seen! (of course watching off the Conger dock was always a highlight)
3. On the 4th of July, Kerrisa and I took our annual trip to Tower for the parade. We stood with my gparents and aunt, and watched my mom as she tossed candy and bracelets at the crowd from her float. My mom is such a people-person... and she has wayyy more energy than most humans should. At any rate- here is a pic of Kerrisa and I during the parade. We look forward to going again next year, but we want ALL the 'usuals' with us! :) 4. That night Jesse and I headed over to visit Matt and Taryn, and their 2 boys.... except we found them with only the new baby for the night! I (of course) snatched up baby Chase and held him as long as I could. He is adorable-- and so tiny! We will get together with them again in a couple weeks.
5. Saturday we met up with Annie and Scott and spent 7 hours cruising around the lake and doing a bit more snorkeling. We also ate at a Mexican/Italian restaurant (Zorbaz) that had the best nachos ever.
6. Sunday after getting back from Bemidji, we went out to dad's and spent some more time on the lake. I love it...
7. Sunday night we headed over to Amy's to visit with her, Steve, Jack and Steve (her dad) and ate some tasty tacos and brownies. Then Steve ( big steve) took us out on the pontoon and showed us where some good campsites are. So- we might go camping this weekend if the weather cooperates.

Life seems so busy lately.... I hope everyone is finding some time to relax :)
