food, family and fun...

Saturday morning Lo, Erin and mom came out to my place and we spent the morning together. We had a good time cooking, chatting, eating and giggling-- and of course the morning wouldn't have been complete without a picture of us girls standing on our heads, on the couch . We used to do this when we were little-- and have continued to do this into adulthood. It's tons of fun-- try it! Yes, most of the time when you put the Aune girls together, we pretty much act like children-- and best friends. :) Throw our mom into the mix, and you get one wild party! Mom was showing us this video she saw... and let's just say that it involved her dancing around the living room..... my mom is full of energy, and it's definitely contagious. She's too cute. xoxo Anyways- Erin made us this tasty egg roll-up thing, laura made muffins, mom made the coffee, and I cut up the fruit. It was delicious and quite entertaining. Thanks, girls!
After breakfast, Lo, Er and I went to visit gram and gramps. They were sleeping, but we woke them up anyways-- and i am sure glad we did! They were both doing quite well, and gram's friend ( since she was young) Margaret came to visit as well.
The evening we spent at dad's, and it was .... relaxing. Ersy made a couple of beautiful necklaces while Lo and I patiently watchedThe 3 of us girls snuggled into my bed and watched a movie together and I went to bed around 9. It was a fun weekend and I am finally feeling refreshed and like I"ve caught up with the sleep I've needed! I think sister time ( and mom time!) was just what I needed.

Kaylee.

Many of you know that I talk about Kerrisa and Kaylee. Well-This is Kaylee... otherwise known as my "secret sister". I've been lucky enough to have been a part of Kaylee's life since she was a baby~ and now she's almost 16! I don't get to see her as often as I would like (she's too busy chasing boys, I think....), but Monday I called her and asked if she wanted to meet up. It's always fun to see her and catch up with what's going on in her life. She ( and her sister, Kerrisa) are truly like sisters to me ( and Erin!). We've certainly enjoyed getting to know these girls, having them out for sleepovers, boat rides, shopping, twin islands getaways, tanning, midnight swimming in scary water, 4th of July parades and fireworks, trips to MPLS and South Dakota, --she even made the trip to visit me in Mitchell!
Anyways~ there she is. In a nutshell.

Breakfast with Christie

This morning I was able to meet up with a good friend from high school! Christie and I met at the Montana ( a local fav!) and then decided to go for a walk around town a few times. She is the sweetest person I have ever met. She is so honest and caring~ seriously~ I swear she has the biggest heart. Anyways- we were able to discuss MANY things ( as always) and had a great visit. The most exciting thing we talked about was Christie's upcoming mission trip to Sierra Leone, Africa. She is going there for 6 months to work in an orphanage. She is such an amazing person and I can't wait to hear about all of her adventures in Africa. We will miss here but... I have no doubt she will touch each person she is with in Africa!

Sick and Sappy.

Well- Tuesday morning I woke up with a sore throat and a ton of body aches. I have had several students with tummy aches, sore throats and chills the past 2 weeks~ so I figured it was going to happen sooner or later. Anyways- It is MUCH easier to go to school not feeling 100% than to plan for a sub (or find a sub!)... so I just took some tylenol and off I went. I felt pretty good during the day, but the evenings were a bit rough. Tuesday night Jesse tucked me in on the couch like a little burrito and i just laid there until I went to bed around 8. Then last night he got home from work around 5, and i was already in bed. :( He cracked some joke-- but apparently I didn't think it was funny, because I started to cry!-- Anyone who knows me, can vouch that I am super sensitive and can cry over the littlest things, but when I am sick, it's 100 times worse. So- then, we got the giggles over my crying fit. I got out of bed to ride into town with him so we could get some soup, juice and a movie to watch ( Dan in Real Life). I managed to stay up for the entire movie -- i thought it was kinda cute!-- and then fell asleep until 8 this morning. I am so glad to have the next couple of days off to rest up before Easter!

I missed Trisha's bday party last night, but get to see her today when I get my hair cut. I feel a bit better today, so I figure if I am lazy until my apt this afternoon, I should make it. :) I've started my morning routine with oatmeal ( thanks, aim!) and now I plan on heading back to bed...

We have a big weekend planned for Easter. We are heading over to Annie/Scott's to help out with their house. They are moved in and have a few things left to finish up. We will go over Friday night and his parents will come early Saturday.... should be a fun weekend! What's everyone else doing for Easter??

Sweet Surprises!

I had such a fun birthday weekend~ I didn't think anyone would know that I was having a bday at school, but my para (who is wonderful) in my classroom figured things out and baked me a cake ( she knows i love chocolate!) and had my kids make cards. I also got beautiful flowers from my "big and little friends"... too cute.

Saturday morning Jesse and I met up with mom, Lo and Mike for breakfast at the Village Inn. It was a great visit- only I forgot my camera! It's always nice to see family~ but for some reason, it's even better on your birthday. After breakfast, Jesse and I went shopping around the mall for a bit, then went to pick out wedding cake ( I am terrible with decisions... so far, it looks like we are having carrot cake, white cake, marble cake and chocolate cake....help!), and then I went to figure out who is decorating for our reception. I was tired and a bit cranky after all that~ so I hopped in the car and off we drove. Before i knew it, we were heading to Duluth for my surprise birthday trip. Jesse decided to take me there for the day, buy me a new outfit, and then take me out for dinner. I chose Angie's Cantina-- because I LoVe Mexican food-- It was a great trip~ and it was so nice not to think about anything of any importance for a while.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes and cards. :) xoxo

Exciting News!

The latest news (if you haven't already heard )is that Jesse was offered a job in Hibbing. This means he is going to move up here and I will continue to work at the job I love. Jesse and I both enjoy being up here~ we love the lake, the outdoors, the quietness.... but most of all, our families. For the time being, we will live in Cook. A friend of the family is letting us live out at their old farm property. So- our goal is to save up some $$ and maybe be able to build a house of our own in the near future. That's the latest.

Iowa Part 3

Sorry for the late posts! Trisha and I DID make it home safe and sound from Amy's. We ended up spending 2 extra nights there, and both of us had to take a day off of work.... but it was worth it. We counted 41 cars in the ditch on the way back to MN last Tuesday when we drove home.
Despite having rough weather, we had a wonderful time at Amy's and LOVED getting to spend extra time with both Amy and Jack. We hope next time we will get to see Steve, too!
Thanks for all the giggles, Amy!
